Antique & Ultra Rare Mid 19th C. 1864 Mezzotint, Excellent Rare+ condition, Never framed, Entered according Act of Congress in the year 1864 by Wm. Schaus, in the Clerk’s Office at the District Court of the United States, for the Southern District of New York., Engraved by Henry Cousins, Painted by W.H. Powell, George Washington having been unanimously elected President of the United States, before assuming the Chief Magistracy, visited Fredericksburgh to bid an affectionate farewell to his mother. “You will see me no more,” she said, “my great age, and the disease that is rapidly approaching my vitals, warns me, that I shall not be long in this world. I trust in God, I am somewhat prepared for a better. But go, George, fulfil the high destinies which Heaven appears to assign you; go, my son, and may that Heaven's and your mother's blessing be with you always.”
