Capturing the drama and beauty of the landscape throughout the seasons has been a hallmark of artist Fran Noonan’s work. His intentional use of light, typically in the form of back-lighting obscures forms and leaves the viewer with only broad strokes of color versus minute detail, invoking memories rather than specific natural locations.
The artist describes his process of creating this elegant body work in this statement: “These recent works while of similar subject matter in their depiction of the natural imagery of Western New York, offer a renewed sense of atmospheric mood, while remaining true to a recuring theme of the interplay between light and color. I have opted for a lighter palette and perhaps a bit more refinement to help capture an airier quality.”
