Opening Reception: Saturday, August 17, 10am - 2pm
Meibohm Fine Arts is fortunate to present a collection of rarely seen figurative works by George A. Renouard (1884-1954) to include 18 paintings and 13 original etchings. This exhibition features the artist’s “common man” figurative works containing several major paintings in oil. These pieces as well as his watercolors and etchings present gritty and personal depictions of 1930-40’s working men and women, fishermen, immigrants and family units from New York’s Lower East side and Brooklyn’s south shore.
Renouard was born in Rochester, NY and studied art in New York City at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute and the Art Students League. His active period of work extends over three decades from the 1920’s until his death in 1954. During his lifetime Renouard exhibited at the Salmagundi Club, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, National Academy of Design and the Art Institute of Chicago.
The opening reception will be held at Meibohm Fine Arts Saturday, August 17, 10am -2pm and continues through September 21, 2019.
