Touchard (Dutch, 1907-) was born in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands in 1907 where he attended the Academy, and later worked in the graphic arts. He lived in Paris and Geneva until 1933 when he then returned to Amsterdam. He had already made a name for himself as a book-illustrator and engraver for wood figures, but in 1945 he turned completely to painting. He traveled and painted throughout his native Netherlands and Amsterdam, as well as throughout other European countries to include, Italy, France and Belgium, in famous cities such as Venice, Florence, Paris, and Antwerp to name only a few. His paintings have shown worldwide and Touchard was counted amongst the famous painters of Amsterdam.
