Rare Antique Litho, Drawn from Nature & On Stone by E. Whitefield, By F. Michelin [Francis Michelin, English-American, 1809/10-1878, fl. 1830-1860], 111 Nassau St., Entered According to Act of Congress, in the Year 1847, by E. Whitefield, in the Clerk’s Office of the District Court of the Southern District of N.Y. Brief Description: The litho depicts the city of Buffalo, NY on the banks of Lake Erie and the shipping canal. Most of the buildings of the city are on the far bank while the bank in the foreground is largely rural with a few buildings, workers in boats and loading carts, a handful of civilians. Many steamboats, river boats and other sailing vessels are on the river, some docked at the warehouses which line the river. A numbered key (1-15) beneath the image at far left & right identifies churches, civic buildings, hotels, markets and other commercial buildings in the distance.
