George Knoblauch (German-American, 1899-1982) artist, painter and decorator/decorating industry. He was born in Germany on June 19, 1899 to George Knoblauch (c.1869-1917) and wife unknown, who were married c.1897, and he had three younger siblings to include, August Knoblauch (1901-1966), Pauline Knoblauch-Raquet (1904-1988) and Anna Knoblauch-Camp (1907-1985). The family immigrated to the United States in 1906 (later source says 1904 tough I think it is incorrect). His early education was at Buffalo School No. 58 and at the age of 18, he began working as a photographic artist at the well-known Colegrove Bros., Inc. a photographic portrait studio and enlargement house located at 774-776 Main Street in Buffalo, NY. On September 12, 1918, George registered for the draft during WWI, but likely never served due to the Armistice ending the war a couple months later. By the 1930’s, George worked as an artist in an art store and by 1940, was working in the decorating industry. He married Emily (née Michalsky) Knoblauch (1897-1972) c.1924 and the couple had two sons, George T. Knoblauch (Sept. 27, 1925-2000 [ex-wife Helen née Frischholz-Knoblauch]) and Edwin Knoblauch (c.1930-2022). The family resided at 3557 Union Rd. Cheektowaga, NY. George died on August 2, 1982 in Buffalo, NY.
