Joan Averill Bancroft Pratt (American, 1920-1998) Western New York painter was born January 18, 1920 in Colden, NY to George H. and Edith Conover Bancroft and siblings included sisters Elizabeth (Marcus) Pratt, Harriet A. Bancroft, and brothers George (Sarah) Bancroft, and Robert (Beverly) Bancroft. Joan resided in Holland, NY and was wife of over fifty years to the noted regional artist David Foster Pratt (American, 1918-2010) and mother of David F. (Linda) Pratt, Sarah (Rodney) Tobin, Susan Rudnicky, and Michael B. (Barbara) Pratt, the last three becoming artists in their own right. Joan died September 20, 1998 in Buffalo and is buried in Holland Cemetery, Holland, NY.
