The Edward Gross Company, Inc., NYC (American Publishers, c.1906-c.1963) were publishers and import distributors of picture frames and mouldings, numerous art prints, postcard series, etchings (with some limited editions), etc., in the early half of the 20th Century. The company was run by four brothers, Edward Gross (1870-1923), Albert Gross (1871-1914), Samuel Gross (1873-1946) and Jacob Gross (1876-1963) from New Rochelle, NY. The company owned many copyrights to reproduce artists’ works and constantly applied for new copyrights and copyright renewals throughout the company history. In late 1922, Edward Gross organized a stock company and turned over his entire business to his faithful employees with whom he credited his success, and as fate would have it, Edward Gross passed away a few months later on January 26, 1923. The company continued on until I believe 1963, which is the latest date I had found for the company and incidentally was the same year of his youngest brother, Jacob’s passing.
