Artist Statement:
My collages have a visual vocabulary employing materials that are weathered, torn, faded, enriched by deterioration and calling attention to the past. Recent work explores the fragility of identity by using vintage photos and snapshots of unknown individuals gathered from yard and estate sales. From this pool of materials, new narratives are developed and explored. Illusionistic space, juxtaposition of shapes, antiqued verbiage and surface layering are employed to achieve my final visual statement.
